This Privacy Policy explains how Dinner Made Easy ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Raise the Barr Enterprises LLC, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our application and services. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: email address and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication)
- Family profile data: family name, member names, dietary restrictions, and preferences you enter
- Usage data: meal ratings, meal history, shopping lists, and meal plans you create
- Member photos: profile images you voluntarily upload
- Payment information: billing is processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We store only your subscription status.
- Device/technical data: browser type, general location (country/region), and app usage patterns collected automatically

- Provide and improve the app's core features (meal planning, ratings, shopping lists)
- Personalize AI-generated meal suggestions based on your family's ratings and history
- Process subscription payments through Stripe
- Send service-related communications (account updates, payment receipts)
- Analyze aggregate, anonymized usage data to improve the service
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), Firebase Security Rules limiting data access to authenticated account holders, and secure authentication through Firebase Auth.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Children's Privacy
Dinner Made Easy is intended for use by adults who manage meal planning for their household. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Any profile created for a family member under 13, including a name, food preferences, and meal ratings, is created and managed entirely by the parent or legal guardian who owns the account. When creating an account, the account holder certifies that they are 18 or older and the parent or legal guardian of any family members they add, including anyone under 13.
Children do not create their own accounts and cannot independently provide personal information to us. Family invite links are intended for other adults in the household (such as a co-parent or caregiver) and require the joining adult to separately confirm they are 18 or older. A parent or guardian may review, edit, or delete any child's profile and associated data at any time from within the account, or by contacting legal@dinnermadeeasy.app, and we will act on such requests promptly. We do not sell or share children's information with third parties.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Google Firebase (data storage), Stripe (payment processing), Anthropic (AI meal suggestions — only meal-related prompts are sent, not personal identifying information), and Vercel (application hosting)
- Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public
- Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred — you will be notified
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at legal@dinnermadeeasy.app. Upon deletion we will remove your family data from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights including access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your account and data, and portability of your data in a machine-readable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at legal@dinnermadeeasy.app.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies and local browser storage to maintain your login session. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. We do not run ads.
9. Third-Party Links
The app may contain links to third-party services (e.g., recipe websites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
